Yesterday, farmers from the province Opole presented their demands to the Opole voivode, Monika Jurek. An advisory team to the voivode was established. Today, delegates are to meet Czesław Siekierski, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Yesterday, on January 29, Opole farmers presented their demands to the Opole voivode, Monika Jurek.
Farmers from the Opole province form a team under the voivode. There are no “full-time” activists there
One of the most important effects of the meeting was the establishment of an advisory team based on farmer leaders of protests in the Opole region. As we heard from farmers, they are happy with this turn of events, primarily because the team includes active farmers from the protests, and not “full-time activists” who have been operating for many years, and farmers have many doubts about their actions. Because, as they say, eco-schemes have been implemented for the last 4 years, and farmers’ representatives accepted it all.
The council will include farmers from every district of the province. Opole Province. This is a group of protest “leaders” from the province. It will also include representatives of agricultural organizations and unions, but at the middle, “grassroots” level, “so that they are not people who deal with politics and not problem-solving.”
– We are actually at the beginning of the road and I think we are heading in the right direction. However, our actions will be assessed by farmers in the coming months, said Michał Konat, chairman of the Chamber of Agriculture in the Nysa district, in an interview for Radio Opole.

Siekierski announced his arrival to Opole. The most important topics are goods from Ukraine and the Green Deal
Today (30/01/2024) at At 2.30 p.m. a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Czesław Siekierski, will take place in Opole. The aim of the meeting is not only to present the problems of agriculture, but also to cooperate on specific solutions that can improve the situation.
– Currently, we are focusing only on the two most important demands: stopping the Green Deal and imports from Ukraine – says Michał Konat.
According to Michał Konat, the Ministry of Agriculture has mechanisms that can be used to fight for the interests of farmers who will soon go out to their fields. This concerns, for example, derogations in the field of fallowing, approval of plant protection products, etc. In the case of grain, it may be worth considering its “relocation”.
– If we are to take a base year here, for example, we should base it on the ten-year average, but from before the war, and not from the time when the market was crowded – he notes.
Another topic is lease rents, adopted in December last year, which were significantly increased due to incorrect calculations.
– Economically, it is tragic, they want to flood us with goods from Ukraine, kill us with the Green Deal, and finally collect taxes and lease rents from KOWR and the tax office – sums up Konat.
