Tomasz Obszański, chairman of NSZZ RI “Solidarność”, in a statement issued on Thursday referred to Prime Minister Tusk’s words about including border crossings with Ukraine and some sections of roads and railway tracks on the list of critical infrastructure as soon as possible.
The Independent Self-Governing Trade Union of Individual Farmers “Solidarity” firmly opposed the words contained in today’s statement by Donald Tusk. At the same time, they denied information that farmers were obstructing military and humanitarian transports with their protest on the Polish-Ukrainian border.
We firmly declare that humanitarian aid, military aid and ADR vehicles are allowed through all blockades on an ongoing basis, out of order, and we are not aware of any cases of blocking of such transports – we read in the statement.
During the conference, the Prime Minister, although he did not directly say that farmers were blocking the transport of military and humanitarian goods to Ukraine, did announce the inclusion of, among others, critical infrastructure on the list. border crossings and railway tracks to, as he put it, ensure the smooth flow of the said items. This declaration was accepted by agricultural circles as a pacification of the “white glove” protests.
The chairman of NSZZ RI “Solidarność” noted that the Prime Minister’s words are “unacceptable manipulation intended to suppress agricultural protests and divert attention from the incompetence of the Polish government and the abandonment of systemic solutions for the failing Polish family farms.”
NSZZ RI Solidarność declares that, as one of the organizers of the protests, we are obliged to comply with the law and ensure safe conditions for activities carried out as part of the 30-day general strike of farmers. Any reports suggesting otherwise are untrue and constitute false accusations, we read in the end of the statement.
