College students who are members of Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow have the opportunity to apply for two scholarships, one that’s worth $3,000 and another that’s $1,500. They will be awarded in the summer at the 2023 Ag Media Summit, and applications are due on or before April 3.

The scholarships will be awarded to outstanding members of ACT for their achievements in leadership, career-related experiences, academics, and service. In addition to the scholarship amounts, the two finalists will each receive a $1,000 travel stipend to attend the summit, which provides opportunities for networking and professional development and will be held in Palm Springs, California, from July 29 to Aug. 2, 2023. In-person interviews with members of the Agricultural Communicators Network’s Future Ag Communicators Committee will take place.

The Dr. James Evans Scholarship is the top scholarship offered in the amount of $3,000. The first runner-up will be awarded the Past Presidents’ Scholarship of $1,500.

ACT, a collegiate organization that develops agricultural communication students through professional opportunities and contests, has nearly two dozen active chapters, primarily at land-grant universities in the Midwest and south-central U.S. While university enrollment and current membership in ACT is required to apply for these scholarships, chapter affiliation is not, and college students can receive individual memberships to ACT for an annual fee of just $17.

Recipients of the scholarships, funded through a grant from the ACN’s Professional Improvement Foundation, will be selected based on the following:

    • ACT involvement, leadership activities, and other campus organizational involvement
    • Academic achievements
    • Career-related experiences
    • Reference recommendations
    • General neatness and completion of application
