
According to data from the Chief Veterinary Inspectorate, almost 40 new ASF outbreaks in wild boars were reported over the past week. The plague occurred in seven voivodeships.
According to data provided by the Chief Veterinary Inspectorate, over the past seven days, 38 new ASF outbreaks in wild boars have been confirmed in Poland. They occurred in seven voivodeships, with most of them concentrated in the Lower Silesian, Warmian-Masurian and West Pomeranian voivodeships.
Where have ASF outbreaks occurred?
According to GIW data, the disease appeared in the following areas:
Lower Silesia:
- Legnica poviat (Chojnów commune)
- Lubin poviat (Lubin commune)
- Milicz district (Milicz commune)
- Trzebnica poviat (Żmigród commune)
- Wołów district (Wołów commune)
Lubuskie:
- Krosno district (Gubin commune)
- Międzyrzecz poviat (Pszczew commune)
- Żary district (Tuplice commune)
- Wschowa district (Szlichtyngowa commune)
Masovian district:
- Radom County (Wierzbica Commune)
Opole Voivodeship:
- Namysłów district (Domasowice and Świerczów commune)
Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship:
- Bartoszyce poviat (Górowo Iławeckie commune)
- Braniewo district (Pieniężno and Płoskinia communes)
- Elbląg district (Tolkmicko commune)
- Olsztyn poviat (Olsztynek commune)
- Ostróda poviat (Miłakowo commune)
Greater Poland Voivodeship:
- Oborniki poviat (Oborniki commune)
West Pomeranian voivodeship:
- Gryfino district (Chojna and Stare Czarnowo communes)
- Police County (Dobra, Kołbaskowo and Police communes)
- Szczecin district (city of Szczecin)
In 38 ASF outbreaks, traces of the virus were confirmed in the tissues of 48 wild boars. 22 outbreaks concerned shot animals and 16 dead wild boars.

ASF in wild boars in 2024
Since the beginning of January, 134 disease outbreaks in wild boars have been confirmed in Poland, most of which occurred in western Poland: especially in the West Pomeranian and Lower Silesian voivodeships. In addition, ASF also occurred in the following voivodeships: Lower Silesia, Lublin, Lubusz, Masovia, Opole, Podlaskie, Pomerania and Greater Poland.
In the same period last year, we had over 300 ASF outbreaks confirmed in wild boars.
