Farmers are protesting all over Poland related to the uncontrolled import of agricultural produce from Ukraine or the green deal. In addition to road blockades and gatherings in front of offices, it is worth mentioning that masses are held in many places for the protesting farmers. One of them was celebrated in a church in the town of Książki in Wąbrzeźno County.
Farmers from the parish in Książki, which includes the village of Książki and partly the villages of Zaskocz and Łopatki, have been actively participating in them since the beginning of this year’s protests, traveling to Wąbrzeźno, Rzywad and Lisewo. On Sunday, March 17, a column of tractors arrived at the parish church, where an additional mass was celebrated at 3 p.m.

Thanks to the kindness of the mayor of the Książki commune, Krzysztof Zieliński, the Volunteer Fire Department led a column of tractors to the parish church in Książki through the village. Several dozen tractors, local representatives of the transport industry and numerous farmers arriving by car arrived at the site. Tractors decorated with Polish flags were lined up along the street, and farmers went to the church to participate in mass.

As the parish priest in Książki, Father Zbigniew Żynda, emphasizes, this is not the first such initiative in the area, because previously a mass for protesting farmers was already celebrated in Gronów, in the neighboring Toruń poviat. It is worth adding that the event was positively received by local residents, and on social media you can find comments such as: “Probably the only one during the – rightful – farmers’ protests. Bravo, Priest! Farmers are not alone here.” or “If this is a sincere action of solidarity, praise the Lord.”
