Maciej Gogulski, director of the University Center of Veterinary Medicine of the Poznań University of Life Sciences, was appointed by the Minister of Agriculture as the plenipotentiary for animal welfare – the Ministry of Agriculture announced on Friday.
The ministry added that Gogulski is also an assistant professor at the Department of Preclinical Sciences and Infectious Diseases of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences of the Poznań University of Life Sciences.
As explained, the representative’s tasks include: giving opinions on draft legal acts in the field of animal welfare and animal protection; analysis, assessment and monitoring of the functioning of animal welfare and animal protection regulations; identification of the most important animal welfare problems; cooperation with government administration bodies, local government units, social organizations, the scientific community and farmers.
