Tammy Anderson-Wise, Dairy Council of California CEO, said, “We are honored to give a spotlight and bring awareness to leaders in California that are doing such important work on behalf of nutrition and childhood health. As we enter into the fourth year of the Let’s Eat Healthy award program, it is important to celebrate champions in California that value the unique nutritional and health needs of children to prioritize optimal growth, development, academic success, and lifelong health.”
Let’s Eat Healthy is an initiative to bring together diverse individuals and organizations guided by the belief that all children and families deserve equitable access to healthy, culturally diverse foods, and nutrition education that centers on people’s unique lived experiences. By supporting access to high-quality, nutritious foods, we strive to ensure all children are supported for optimal growth, development, and health throughout life. Evidence-based nutrition education helps children and families make healthy eating decisions, empowering them to build lifelong healthy eating habits.
Past winners of the Let’s Eat Healthy Leadership Award have included school foodservice professionals, teachers, health and wellness coordinators, nutrition advocates, and community-based organizations. This year, the nomination category is expanding to include youth leaders.
