We will look for protective solutions for Polish farmers through the use of national funds and further negotiations with Ukraine and European institutions, Prime Minister Donald Tusk declared on Thursday. He appealed to separate the issues of support for Ukraine and protection of Polish farmers in the debate.
During the press conference, the head of government emphasized that the Polish state is obliged to protect the interests of Polish farmers and agricultural producers. At the same time, he reminded that Poland has been on Ukraine’s side from the first days of the war, and even earlier, and supports Ukraine with all available means.
Help for Ukraine is one thing, and support for Polish farmers is another
He appealed to separate both issues in the internal and international debate, i.e. unquestionable support for Ukraine and protection of Polish farmers and the Polish market against the negative effects of trade liberalization with Ukraine.
– We will look for protective solutions for Polish farmers, both using domestic methods, through the use of national funds, and through further negotiations with Ukraine and European institutions, so that the negative consequences of trade liberalization with Ukraine are less severe and eliminate them as much as possible. . Polish farmers can count on me here, assured the Prime Minister.
As he said, the government wants to establish a line of compromise and agreement with the protesting farmers that would be satisfactory for them and would allow them to end the protests.
