Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Thursday in Gliwice that farmers have the right to protest and demand the implementation of their interests, but he, like the Prime Minister, must take care of the interests of everyone. He announced further talks on solving farmers’ specific problems.
– I take farmers’ problems seriously and I will try to solve them as effectively as possible, regardless of whether they protest or not. I do not expect applause or support from the protesters, Tusk said at the election meeting.
He added that farmers protest not only in Poland, they have the right to protest as long as they do not violate the regulations and to demand the implementation of their interests. – And as prime minister, I have to take care of everyone’s interests – he emphasized.
Commenting on the change in the form of the protest to demonstrations in front of parliamentarians’ offices, the head of government said that the point is for both sides to be able to “talk seriously, not at the level of political slogans, but about specific problems such as: how much money is needed to liquidate surplus grain stocks, how long should transit of grain through Poland to empty warehouses. Tusk emphasized that these were specific, logistical topics that he was constantly talking about and – as he assured – he would talk about next week.
