Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Michał Kołodziejczak, informs that there is a possibility that goods banned from import from Ukraine are entering Poland. The matter is being investigated by the services. If this turns out to be true, the minister announces that there will be consequences.
After the European Commission’s decision not to extend the embargo on Ukrainian grain for five countries, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary extended the ban on imports of agricultural products from Ukraine. You cannot import into Poland, among others: wheat, corn, rapeseed, sunflower seeds. These products can only pass through our country in transit.
Is Ukrainian corn entering Poland?
Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Michał Kołodziejczak, informed that the reality may be different.
I have received information about the suspicion of importing cornmeal from Ukraine to Poland, which, despite being banned, is allegedly unloaded in our country – X informed on the website.

Kołodziejczak: we will draw consequences
Kołodziejczak assured that if the reports turn out to be true, he will make sure to draw the consequences.
The services work and verify the report. If the information turns out to be true, the people involved in the crime will suffer severe consequences – added Kołodziejczak. – The case is being investigated by all relevant services and inspections. On Saturday, at the request of Donald Tusk, a special team met at the Ministry of Interior and Administration, consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, voivodes of Lublin and Podkarpackie and their subordinate services, as well as, among others, Customs Office, National Tax Administration and police. During the meeting, a decision was made that all reports received by the services will be checked – he said in an interview with money.pl
As the Deputy Minister of Agriculture assured, the Prime Minister said clearly: “I want to know about everything that is happening at the border.” Therefore, after each signal about potential irregularities, border controls are initiated.
Late in the afternoon, Kołodziejczak announced that the goods imported into the country turned out to be sunflower meal, which is not covered by the import ban.
Everything indicates that the suspicious meal turned out to be sunflower meal, which may be coming to Poland. Samples were taken to examine the quality of the product and check whether there are no residues of plant protection products. During the inspection, additional doubts arose, i.e. several entities importing products from Ukraine are registered at one address in Zamość – he informs. – Unfortunately, that’s not all. I will inform you what happens next in this matter.
Negotiations on import limits for agricultural products are currently underway in Brussels. However, the first findings are not satisfactory for Polish farmers. The Minister of Agriculture, Czesław Siekierski, said during his visit to Brussels that the embargo on Ukrainian grain will not be lifted until Poland negotiates bilateral rules for the flow of goods with Ukraine.
Farmers are warning us that the problem mentioned by the deputy minister is broader, and banned products are still entering the country.
We are checking the reports. We will keep you updated on the matter.
