The so-called the small harvest has started. Uncertainly for now, but we have information from farmers, as well as the first reports on social media, that the barley harvest has already started. They started in the weaker positions and in the southwestern regions of the country. The first reports come from the Lubusz, Lower Silesian, Opole and Greater Poland voivodeships. Strangely enough, they also occasionally appear from Masovia. However, it should be noted that this is just the beginning and these are really random cases.
What is the moisture content of barley?
There is information that the moisture content of harvested barley grain is lower than 14% and even reaches 12.4%.
We don’t know the yield yet, but it should be noted that these first harvests are not representative.
When the so-called small harvests started in previous years?
At farmer.pl we are always up to date. In 2023, we announced the first harvest on July 3. At that time it was very slow and random, because the rain interfered with it.
In 2022, it was much faster, in June, specifically on June 24. Then, winter barley initially fell at approximately 5.5 t/ha.
What was in 2021? The single barley harvest began at the end of June, but began in earnest two weeks later because the harvest was hampered by passing storms.
