As reported by GIW, due to the presence of microbiological contamination (Salmonella typhimurium and enteritidis) in a shipment of poultry meat inspected at the Polish-Ukrainian border as part of the national food monitoring plan from third countries, the European Commission, at the request of Poland, implemented the EU intensified inspection procedure regarding the establishment of origin. goods.
The intensified control includes laboratory checks of subsequent shipments submitted for official controls at the entire EU border until 10 consecutive consistent results are obtained. The checks are carried out by all Member States, and the shipment awaits the results of laboratory tests at the border under official supervision. Controls are coordinated through the EU’s TRACES-NT system. All consignments with unsatisfactory results are rejected based on the administrative decision of the official veterinarian. The restrictions remain in force until the Ukrainian production plant implements corrective actions regarding consumer safety, we read in the Inspection’s announcement.

GIW also reported the results of safety inspections of feed imported into Poland:
Controls at the EU external border in Poland include, among others: by carrying out an organoleptic assessment of selected shipments and taking samples for laboratory tests. From January 1 to March 21, 2024, the organoleptic inspection carried out on 171 selected shipments resulted in unsatisfactory results in 19 cases. Mold growth and moisture in the feed material were found. The last case was recorded on March 19 this year. and it concerned post-extraction sunflower meal.
