The blockade on the Polish-Lithuanian border will be resumed for a month. At least that’s what the farmers decided, and they also intend to intensify their protest action.
The blockade of the road crossing on the border with Lithuania is to be resumed from March 20 and will last until April 20. During this time, farmers intend to completely stop car traffic for 12 hours a day – reports RMF24.
On Thursday, March 13, according to the station, the farmers’ protest committee is to talk on this topic with the police in Suwałki to agree on the course and rules of this meeting. The planned protest is to block the junction on the S-61 route in Szypliszki and the border crossing in Ogrodniki. Traffic is to be completely suspended in both directions, daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Imports from Ukraine and Russia continue
Such a blockade would be severely felt by Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. In this way, the protesting farmers want to put pressure on both the Baltic states and their own government so that decision-makers finally stop the import of agri-food products from Ukraine and Russia. As farmers argue, agricultural products imported from Ukraine to Lithuania return to us as EU goods. All three countries act as intermediaries in the export of grain from Russia to Poland.

Neighbors “go away”
The previous blockade of the Polish-Lithuanian crossing in Budzisko ended only a few days ago. It did not affect Lithuanians or Latvians because the traffic was not blocked. Farmers, together with the services, only checked what the trucks were transporting and from where. According to farmers, these inspections confirmed the functioning of the “grain carousel”, i.e. the re-export of Ukrainian grain to Poland, as well as the import of Russian agricultural products to our country via Latvia and Estonia. However, the Lithuanian authorities still deny that such practices take place.
