Farmers’ protest. On April 4, they will visit parliamentary offices

Farmers are changing the form of protest. Now they will talk about their problems in the offices of MPs, MEPs and senators. In all voivodeships in the country.

We have already written about the change in the form of the protest on farmer.pl. – On Sunday (March 24, 2024), each farmer records a video and posts it on social media. It is best to record in front of the MPs’ offices, and if that is not possible, we will record next to a tractor or a farm with flags. The content of the recording must state that on April 4, we are going to the offices of MPs/senators in the field, regardless of party affiliation, for a visit and with a small “surprise” (a package of manure, a jar of liquid manure, a sheaf of straw, silage, an agri-food product, a bag of grain). . We are registering a protest on April 4 in front of the offices of MPs, senators and MEPs and, if possible, we will go there with tractors. The planned protest will last 4 hours (10:00-14:00). The recording must make it clear that society is asking us to invite politicians to cooperate. If the Agriculture Committee limits contact with the public, the public will come to the offices of the Agriculture Committee members – wrote farmers in a statement quoted by editor Monika Chlebosz.

Farmers’ protest in parliamentary offices

As the farmers announced, so they did. They recorded videos announcing the visits of MPs, senators and MEPs. It doesn’t matter what party they belong to.

We publish one of such videos below. This is a statement by Łukasz Pergoł, a farmer from the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.

– Good morning. Greetings from the beautiful Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. I greet all our eighteen MPs, our senators and our MEPs. Ladies and Gentlemen, remember that it is not party colors or party affiliation, but the red and white flag that flies behind my back that is our highest value. The good of Poland, the national interest, is our highest goal, says Pergoł.

He adds that food security, energy and industrial security are primary goals, above party bills and party flags.

– The red and white flag is our common good. We want to remind you of this on April 4 by visiting you in your parliamentary offices, along with our demands and solutions. I hope that our talks will take place in a friendly and normal atmosphere. Best regards and see you on April 4 – adds the farmer.

Holding those in power accountable

This action will take place just before the local elections, so politicians should be even more interested in the dialogue declared by farmers. Will they show up at their offices on April 4 and want to talk to farmers? Time will tell.

The protesters also have a solution to this eventuality. As they announced, if a given parliamentarian does not come to the meeting on April 4, they will take further action in the form of 24-hour protests in front of their offices. These were scheduled for April 16.

Łukasz Pergoł talks about farmers' demands. Will it be possible to push through them at the meeting with the Prime Minister?
