
More than half of the farmers participating in the blockade of Olsztyn have already gone home. There are still about 100 tractors parked in the city center. The protest participants announce that they intend to end the blockade on Wednesday, around noon. The protest in Elbląg also ended.
The chairman of the meeting of farmers who have been blocking the center of Olsztyn since Tuesday noon, Marek Kuźniewski, said that everything indicates that the protesters will start going home around noon. – There are still about 100 tractors. People are tired, it was a hard night outside, said Kuźniewski, adding that the farmers received many nice gestures.
– At 3 a.m. someone brought us a warm, home-made cake. It was very nice. We would like to thank all the residents of Olsztyn for their understanding, kindness and understanding of our case – said Kuźniewski.
On Tuesday, the line of tractors lined up on the streets of Olsztyn was 5 km long. Tractors blocked the very center of the city, which forced changes in bus and tram routes. On Wednesday morning there are much fewer tractors. – Those who have animals have gone home. Others drove away in cars and left their tractors, which they will come back for later, Kuźniewski said.
Farmers activate sirens from time to time. All interviewees emphasized that they had not experienced any negative reactions.
Farmers’ protest in the province Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship ended on the S7 national road near Elbląg. The officer on duty at the GDDKiA road information point in Olsztyn informed PAP that due to the ongoing protest in Nowy Dwór Gdański, those traveling on the S7 route must take a detour near the Elbląg Zachód junction.
There are no other roadblocks in the region on Wednesday.
