Hundreds of demonstrators have returned to the streets of the Spanish capital to protest against working conditions and EU agricultural policy.
Thousands of farmers and breeders started protesting again in Madrid at 9 a.m. on Monday. Their slogan is: “The countryside demands support, respect and recognition.” Farmers gathered at 11:00 a.m. in front of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and then a line of tractors and protesters will go to the European Commission office in the Spanish capital.
Some farmers from the immediate vicinity of Madrid came to the city with tractors, the rest marched on foot and reached the capital by buses organized by agricultural groups.
The organizers of the protest are agricultural organizations such as Asaja, COAG and UPA, which announced that they will demand a solution to the problems of the agricultural sector.
Today, some Spanish farmers also went to Brussels, where a large farmers’ protest is taking place in front of the headquarters of the EU authorities. Today there is a meeting of EU ministers for agriculture.
