Is this the end of farmers’ protests in their current form? It looks. In a statement issued on Friday, representatives of the National Farmers’ Protest inform about the change in the form of protests. What will change? Let’s check!
- Farmers’ protests have been ongoing since the beginning of this year.
- Despite strong public support, there are more and more voices that the protests are becoming burdensome for ordinary residents, which in turn causes a loss of public trust.
- Therefore, farmers decided to verify their method of operation.
To a large extent, their activities will move to parliamentary offices and local festivals. The first protest actions in front of MPs’ offices were planned for April 4.
MEPs face difficult days
“On Sunday (March 24, 2024), each farmer records a video and uploads it to social media. It is best to record it in front of the MPs’ offices, and if that is not possible, we record it next to a tractor or a farm with flags. The content of the recording must state that we are going on April 4 to the offices of MPs/senators in the field, regardless of party affiliation, with a visit and a small “surprise” (a package of manure, a jar of slurry, a sheaf of straw, silage, an agri-food product, a bag of grain). We are reporting a protest in front of the MPs’ offices for April 4, senators and MEPs and, if possible, we go there by tractors. The planned protest will last 4 hours (10:00-14:00). The recording must make it clear that it is society that is asking us to invite politicians to cooperate. If the committee agriculture limits contact with the public, the public will come to the offices of the members of the agriculture committee,” they wrote in a statement.
They also add that if a given parliamentarian does not come to the meeting on April 4, they will take further action in the form of 24-hour protests in front of their offices. These were scheduled for April 16.

Farmers continue to ask for dialogue with the government
In the meantime, they planned to send a letter of intent to the president, prime minister, speakers of the Sejm and Senate and MPs, asking for dialogue.
On Friday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk will also receive a request for a negative vote during Monday’s vote in the European Parliament regarding one of the important assumptions of the Green Deal, i.e. flooding 400,000 hectares. The content of the letter will also be made available to the public.
Farmers are also calling for the suspension of protests during Holy Week and Easter.
Of course, where blockades are reported and are ongoing, decisions will be made by the organizer responsible for such a blockade – write representatives of the National Farmers’ Strike.
In the last point of the message, farmers encourage farmers to organize local agricultural festivals and talks with residents, during which they will explain to the public the reasons for going out on the streets, as well as the impact of the provisions of the Green Deal on the entire society.
