The series of price increases for fattened pigs, which lasted almost three weeks, ended on the small stock exchange. Today’s auction brought a change in the trend – instead of an increase, we observed a slight decrease in prices.
Today’s auction ended with a minimal drop in pig prices. The bid was EUR 2.30 per kilogram, which is a symbolic euro cent lower than at Friday’s session. Thus, the series of price increases that began at the beginning of February ended: during this time, the price of fattened pigs increased by 20 euro cents.
At today’s session, 16 batches of fattening pigs were exhibited, with a total of 2,357 pigs. 10 of them (1552 animals) were sold. The price range considered was between 2.26 and 2.32 euros per kilogram.
Converted into the national currency (according to today’s euro exchange rate: 1 EUR = 4.32 PLN), the auctioned rate is PLN 9.94/kg, compared to PLN 9.98/kg during the Friday session.

The question remains whether the situation from today’s session will affect tomorrow’s auction on the large trading floor. On the one hand, the stakes on the small stock exchange have changed minimally since last Wednesday. On the other hand, we still observe a big difference between a small and a large dance floor. Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that VEZG will decide to increase the recommended price of fattening pigs tomorrow. We’ll find out this afternoon.
