From February 15 to April 30, 2024, taxpayers will settle PIT for the previous year. The Ministry of Finance encourages the use of e-services and settling taxes electronically. This year, for the first time, the Your e-PIT service will also be available to people running businesses and special departments of agricultural production.
The Ministry of Finance (MF) and the National Tax Administration (KAS) will make the Your e-PIT service available for the sixth time. This is one of the most popular e-services of the Polish administration. It is available in three language versions: Polish, English and Ukrainian.
– Year by year, our service is becoming more and more popular among taxpayers. In the 2022 settlement, taxpayers sent almost 12 million declarations via Your e-PIT, and another 8 million via e-Declarations. Only 1.3 million – or about 6% – were submitted on paper. For comparison, in 2018, we received less than 7 million returns via the Your e-PIT service, and 20% of the returns were submitted by taxpayers on paper – emphasizes the head of the National Tax Administration, Marcin Łoboda.
The growing popularity is due to convenience. The Your e-PIT service operates 24 hours a day and can be used on any device connected to the Internet. Access to the service is available only at the e-Tax Office (e-US), on the website kontakt.gov.pl. Another important argument is the refund of overpaid tax within 45 days when submitting the settlement electronically, and not within 3 months as in the case of paper returns.
– We strive to make the e-Tax Office website one of the basic channels of communication between taxpayers and the tax office. One of the priorities of the National Tax Administration is to provide professional, friendly and easily accessible service when dealing with tax matters. Taxpayers expect modern services from us, and the answer to this is, among others: e-Tax Office – says Małgorzata Krok, deputy head of the National Tax Office.
During the tax return filing period, taxpayers will be supported by the National Tax Information. You will also be able to use the KASPRO chatbot available at tax.gov.pl, which will answer questions about personal income tax returns. All tax offices will also provide support.
The Ministry of Finance announces that the e-Tax Office will be available as a mobile application later this year. There will also be more options for making tax payments. This is already possible in e-US using the BLIK payment system, and the possibility of payment by payment cards is planned for this year.

Your e-PIT now also for entrepreneurs
This year, for the first time, the Your e-PIT service is also addressed to individuals running businesses and special departments of agricultural production, including those with suspended business activity. Therefore, in addition to the PIT-37, PIT-38 forms and PIT-OP and PIT-DZ statements that have been known for years, the Your e-PIT service will include three new products:
- PIT-36L – a completely new form used for settlements for 2023 from business activities and special sectors of agricultural production taxed with a flat tax,
- PIT-28 – so far addressed to people settling income from rental and sales of processed plant and animal products, from settlements for 2023 it will also be used to settle business activities taxed at a lump sum,
- PIT-36 – so far addressed to persons settling, among others, revenues from foreign pensions and pensions, from unregistered activities, from settlements for 2023 will also be used to settle business activities and special sectors of agricultural production taxed under general principles.

Who will have to complete their PIT
In all forms available in the Your e-PIT service, taxpayers will find data to which the National Tax Administration has access (a detailed list in the attached presentation at the bottom of the message). In the case of settlements, e.g. by “full-time employees”, this means that in many cases it is enough to review the PIT and any changes resulting, for example, from the birth of a child and obtaining a relief in connection with it, or the desire to change the public benefit organization to which we want to transfer 1.5% of the tax.
– A taxpayer obliged to file an annual settlement on the PIT-37 and PIT-38 forms may reject the tax return prepared by us in the Your e-PIT service and submit it independently. If he fails to do so, it will be automatically accepted upon the expiry of the statutory deadline for submitting the annual tax return. In the case of entrepreneurs it is different. They must complete some of the information that the National Tax Administration does not have, and then accept and send the tax return electronically in the Your e-PIT service, explains Sylwia Zdebiak, director of the Customer Relations Department at the Ministry of Finance.
In the return available in the Your e-PIT service, a taxpayer who had a registered business or special sections of agricultural production will independently complete data regarding:
- revenue,
- tax deductible costs (in PIT-36 and PIT-36L),
- social security contributions, and in the case of business activities taxed with a lump sum or flat tax, also health insurance contributions and
reliefs and deductions.
– We have prepared a special wizard to support taxpayers in this task. Simple questions and clear explanations will help you complete your testimony step by step, says Sylwia Zdebiak.
Who will find it easier to submit their own testimony?
The Ministry of Finance hopes that the so-called flat-rate taxpayers who do not include tax-deductible costs in their settlements. The facilitation also applies to property owners who in 2023 will settle rental income as a lump sum. The second large group is 670,000. persons with suspended business activity who are obliged to submit a tax return even though they do not generate income or are exempt from taxation. For the first time, the Your e-PIT service will be available to those who settle income from sources other than business activity in PIT-36. Information about their amount will be included in the shared testimony.
– We expect that some representatives of these groups will try to settle their accounts via your e-PIT and in the near future will give up settling via e-Declarations – says Sylwia Zdebiak.
How to log in
You can log in to the e-Tax Office via login.gov.pl, identifying yourself with a Trusted Profile (PZ), e-ID, via electronic banking or the mObywatel application. Additionally, you can still log in to the Your e-PIT service with your tax data.
– We encourage you to use modern login methods. Firstly, in this way the taxpayer avoids the need to search for tax data for previous periods. Secondly, it gets access to all functionalities of the e-Tax Office. Entrepreneurs will find there, for example, a settlement service that will facilitate the correct completion of PIT-36, argues Sylwia Zdebiak.
It is therefore not surprising that last year almost 80% of logins to the Your e-PIT service were made using various forms available at login.gov.pl. Currently, over 14 million users use the e-Tax Office. Additionally, over 1.5 million of them have already agreed to e-correspondence.
– The number of consents to e-correspondence is increasing because more people are convinced that it is a quick and simple way to handle most tax matters without visiting the tax office. We issue 65% of certificates issued via e-correspondence fully automatically and free of charge within a few minutes. Additionally, we have all correspondence on our account, available at any time. Therefore, it is worth activating it when logging in to e-US in connection with tax settlement – encourages Sylwia Zdebiak.
The Ministry of Finance recommends using the Your e-PIT service using the following browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Edge versions 121 and earlier, and Opera 106 and earlier.

1.5% tax for OPP
Using your e-PIT, you can also declare a transfer of 1.5% of your tax to any selected Public Benefit Organization that is on the list of organizations entitled to receive 1.5% of personal income tax for 2023 in 2024. Taxpayer, who used this option last year will have the KRS number of the organization he recently supported included in his PIT return for 2023 (as long as it is still entitled to receive 1.5% tax), but he can change this organization.
