USDA Crop Progress report: North Carolina is first state to finish 2023 corn harvest

Monday’s USDA Crop Progress report shows corn harvest is complete in North Carolina. Farmers in Louisiana and South Dakota have wrapped up soybean harvest.


Corn

As of Nov. 12, 88% of corn in the top 18 corn-producing states is now harvested, up from 81% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 86%. 


Soybeans

USDA says 95% of soybeans in the top 18 soybean-growing states is harvested, up from 91% the week before and ahead of the five-year average of 91%. 


Winter Wheat

USDA says winter wheat is 93% planted as of Nov. 12 in the top 18 growing states, up from 90% the week prior and equal to the five-year average.

The report says 81% of the crop has emerged, up from 75% a week ago and ahead of the five-year average of 80%.

Seventeen percent of winter wheat is rated in poor/very poor condition, equal to the previous week. A total of 36% is rated fair, up 3% week-over-week. A total of 47% is rated in good/excellent condition, down 3% from the week prior.
