Further talks between Minister Czesław Siekierski and representatives of farmers protesting at border crossings took place in Tomaszów Lubelski.
– Representatives of protesting farmers drew attention to the need for increased security supervision at border crossings – said the minister.
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture noted that increased social control carried out by farmers causes dissatisfaction of various people who, for unknown reasons, are visible and active at the border. According to the information available to farmers, these are not people employed there, and threats are often heard from them.
The profitability of production is negative, very low. Therefore, farmers say – subsidize our prices at the Gusov level, because we sold below profitable prices – said the minister.
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture pointed out that the problem is – to what extent we will be able to support farmers in this area from the budget.
– I also believe that the responsibility for low prices caused by the Green Deal and excessive opening of the European market, and these are decisions at the European level, must be borne by the European Union. This is what farmers say and they expect help and the participation of EU funds, emphasized Minister Czesław Siekierski.
