Case IH Vestrum tractors have so far only been offered with the CVXDrive continuously variable transmission. Now we can also configure them with the ActiveDrive 8 gearbox, which is a cheaper but virtually equally comfortable specification.
The universal Case IH Vestrum tractors are four models 100, 110, 120 and 130 with nominal power consistent with the marking and maximum power 10 HP higher. Their “heart” is a 4-cylinder FPT NEF engine with a displacement of 4.5 l and HI-eSCR 2 technology, which allows them to meet the requirements of the Stage V standard.
This unit develops maximum torque at a fuel-saving rotational speed of 1,300 rpm and is characterized by long service intervals of 750 hours.
So far, this series has not been one of the cheapest options due to the fact that it only offers the CVXDrive continuously variable transmission. Now these machines can also be purchased with the ActiveDrive 8 powershift transmission, in which, as the name suggests, 8 gears can be changed under load.
ActiveDrive 8 gearbox, which is cheaper but with equally great possibilities
– Case IH Vestrum has so far been offered with a continuously variable transmission, but due to its higher price and the fact that not everyone is yet convinced of it, the tractor has not been that popular. At the moment, we have a chance to change this, because we now offer it with the ActiveDrive 8 gearbox, i.e. a “dual-clutch” gearbox with three ranges and 8 gears changed under load. In this class of power and “dimensions”, it is the only such tractor on the market, not counting, of course, other machines from our CNH concern – says Tomasz Koperski, Case IH and Steyr product specialist.
The eight-speed, three-range ActiveDrive 8 transmission was previously only available on Maxxum tractors with power ranging from 115 to 150 hp. Now customers who do not need a full continuously variable transmission have an alternative and cheaper solution at their disposal, which also ensures low fuel consumption and great capabilities.
– In terms of performance and behavior, the ActiveDrive 8 transmission is very close to a continuously variable transmission. It is characterized by a very quick response and we have the APM mode, which is like simulating the operation of a “continuously variable speed”, in which only the speed is selected and gear shifting and revs are performed for us. ActiveDrive 8 is a dual-clutch gearbox, so shifting gears is faster, but 100 percent efficient. mechanically, and therefore higher drive transmission efficiency. The tractor is more efficient and economical, adds Koperski.
In the first range, the Case IH Vestrum ActiveDrive 8 tractor can travel at speeds from 0 to 10.7 km/h and is intended for works requiring high tractive force, while in the second range the travel speeds range from 4.3 to 18.1 km/h hi it is designed to do most jobs. In turn, for road driving, the transmission can be engaged in range three and travel at speeds from 0 to 40 km/h. There is also a creeper gear that allows driving at a speed of 190 m/h when performing specialized work.
In addition, the ActiveDrive 8 transmission has a gear override function, which allows for quick shifting of gears switched under load.
Who is the Case IH Vestrum series for?
Given the multitude of Case IH product lines in medium power ranges, the question of who the Vestrum range of machines is for is justified.
Tomasz Koperski told us that the Vestrum tractor is positioned – in terms of wheelbase, dimensions and weight – between the Case IH Luxxum and Maxxum series. Maxxum also has a 4.5-liter engine (except the Maxxum 150 model), but a higher power range, about 30 HP more with the power management system (EPM), a longer wheelbase and weight – which makes it not so universal (intended more for field work) like Vestrum, which can successfully handle the field, transport and work with a front loader.
– With the Vestrum series we “target” a group of farmers who are looking for something auxiliary in smaller “dimensions”, but well-equipped and comfortable, with an engine that has a slightly larger capacity and power reserve, and is therefore less “effortful” – summarizes the representative of Case IH.
Let us also add that, compared to the above-mentioned Luxxum series, the Vestrum range is built entirely from CNH components – for example, the spacious cabin is taken over from the Maxxum models.

And how much does the Case IH Vestrum ActiveDrive 8 Tractor cost?
– The Case IH Vestrum 120 ActiveDrive 8 with extensive equipment and a loader, exhibited at the Agrotech fair, costs PLN 410,000. PLN net – informs Koperski.
The above-mentioned rich equipment of the Vestrum tractor with a nominal power of 120 HP includes: 4 pairs of hydraulic outputs – two electro-hydraulically and two mechanically controlled, Multicontroller armrest, AFS Pro 700TM Plus monitor, DAB+ digital radio with hands-free kit, inter-axle hydraulics and a low cab roof with a panoramic window prepared to work with the factory L3920T loader mounted on it (with self-leveling hydraulic) with a maximum lifting height of 3.85 m (on the pivot pin) and a lifting capacity of 2114 kg up to this ceiling.
