June brought a real wave of new pig ASF outbreaks. Almost every day we report new herds infected with the disease. Yesterday, there was a report of another disease in the Nowe Miasto district, which is characterized by an exceptionally large scale of pig breeding.
This is the third plague outbreak confirmed in this district since the beginning of June. Another outbreak that occurred in the neighboring Iława poviat can be added to this cluster. The location of the outbreaks is unfortunate. Both counties are in the top ten regions with the largest scale of pig production. In both counties, a total of over 310,000 are maintained. pigs (as at the end of 2023).
For now, we do not know the size of the herds in which the last two outbreaks occurred. In the case of previous cases, the herds where the disease broke out numbered 146 and 600 pigs, respectively.
