
We want to allocate approximately PLN 2 billion to purchasing excess grain from the market, said Stefan Krajewski, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development on Thursday. He added that the subsidies are to be paid by the end of May this year.
The deputy head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development told journalists that the ministry is working on draft regulations that are intended to implement the demands of protesting farmers. “The projects already exist, they must go through their own procedural path, but we want to introduce them as soon as possible,” he pointed out. He explained that this included, among others: for a regulation regarding subsidies for the purchase of approximately 5 million tons of surplus cereals, as well as for changes regarding the Green Deal.
We want to implement this as soon as possible, because grain subsidies are to be paid by the end of May this year. – he explained.
About PLN 2 billion for cereal subsidies.
On Thursday, a meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy for 2023-2027 was held on this matter. Approximately PLN 2 billion was planned for cereal subsidies.
Arrangements are currently underway with the Ministry of Finance on this matter, added Krajewski.
Representatives of protesting farmers who on March 19 this year signed agreements with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Jasionka, and came to the Ministry of Agriculture on Tuesday afternoon for talks regarding the implementation of their demands. According to farmers, their demands are not being implemented; they announced a sit-in strike and two farmers’ representatives remained in the ministry building, at the same time demanding to talk to Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the arrangements adopted in Jasionka “have been implemented to a significant extent.” The ministry assured that it “implements the demands and arrangements made with the representatives of protesting farmers.”
