Despite the stagnation on the small trading floor, today’s auction of the VEZG exchange ended with a significant increase in the recommended purchase price of fattening pigs. The current rate is the highest since the beginning of October.
There was no indication that today’s auction would end with a significant price increase. The previous two sessions of the ISW stock exchange did not bring any major changes, and compared to last week’s quotations, the price even dropped slightly. Nevertheless, price increases on the large trading floor have become a fact.
Prices of fattening pigs in Germany
Today’s session on the VEZG stock exchange ended with the establishment of the recommended purchase price of fattening pigs at EUR 2.20 per kilogram. Compared to last week, this is an increase of 5 euro cents. The last time we saw such high rates in Germany was at the beginning of October.
Converted into the national currency (according to today’s euro exchange rate: 1 EUR = 4.32 PLN), the German price is PLN 9.50 per kilogram.
This year, the rates on the VEZG exchange ranged from PLN 2.00 to PLN 2.20 per kilogram. Last year, a historic stock exchange record was broken: at the beginning of July, the price of fattening pigs recommended by VEZG was EUR 2.62 per kilogram.
Prices of fattening pigs in Poland
Last week did not bring any major changes on the domestic pig fattening market. At the beginning of the week, prices were close to the levels from mid-February. Purchasers paid an average of PLN 9.00 net per kilogram for fattened pigs in class E, while live animals were valued at an average of PLN 6.90 net per kilogram. Today’s increase should have a positive impact on domestic prices in the coming days, especially since the distance to the German price is constantly increasing.
