The Ukrainian ice cream producer Три Ведмеді (Three Bears) took over the Polish frozen food factory Nordis. The new president of the Polish company is now Dmytro Ushmayev.
“We really bought the Nordis factory in Poland,” confirmed Dmytro Ushmayev, owner of Trzy Misie, in an interview with the Ukrainian Forbes. As we read in Forbes.ua, the Polish factory producing Nordis semi-finished products and ice cream changed its management in September 2023. The new owner of the company is Dmytro Uszmajew, founder of Trzy Misie. The director of the Ukrainian manufacturer, Andriy Tyshchenko, also joined the Nordis supervisory board.
Nordis has factories and warehouses in western Poland, 53 km from the German border. It is the third largest producer of ice cream and frozen vegetables in Poland. The company produces over 100 types of ice cream, as well as frozen foods and ready-made meals. It also has its own distribution network in 19 Polish cities.
Export only to the west
– Going abroad is a logical step for us, because the European market is sufficiently developed and continues to grow, says Ushmayev, who admits that he wants to use Polish experience to develop his business in Ukraine. The new owner also intends to increase the production capacity of plants in Poland and export to Western Europe. The businessman also admits that he does not intend to sell Nordis ice cream and frozen foods in Ukraine.
Currently, the Polish plant produces half as many products as the Ukrainian Trzy Misie, but according to the new owner – it has similar potential. Uszmajew reveals in an interview that the Polish factory employs 100 workers and has an area of 30,000 square meters. The businessman did not want to reveal how much he bought Nordis for.
Ukrainian analysts estimate that the transaction could have amounted to USD 8-10 million, but it was known that the Polish manufacturer was experiencing financial difficulties and its business was generating losses, so the Ukrainian buyer could pay a more bargain price.
