One of the fundamental activities that must be performed to ensure precise spraying is to check the output of each nozzle. We ask an expert how to do it quickly and accurately.
When operating the sprayer, it is important to check the technical condition of the nozzles and the extent to which they may be out of calibration. For this purpose, nozzle expenses are compared and compared with tabular data, where the deviation may be no more than 10%. Specialist Eugeniusz Tadel explains how to do it
How to check the nozzle output in a field sprayer?
After adjusting the appropriate pressure, check whether the spray flow is consistent with the calibration. For this purpose, you can use an ordinary jug, which is usually used to measure the amount of a chemical preparation. This is most often done by measuring expenses in one minute and then checking compliance with the table.
Flow meter for testing the flow of nozzles
For self-testing, you can also use a special device – a flow meter, which measures the flow faster than we would do it in a traditional way, because it displays the result after collecting the appropriate fluid level in a specific time.

Jars are a way to quickly verify nozzles
− You can also place a board on blocks or other blocks under the beam and place jars on it, preferably identical ones. Then you can see the uniformity with the naked eye and verify it by referring the expenditure to the calibration cup. Of course, such a test will not replace testing on a grooved table, which also detects other defects of the sprayer, such as the phenomenon of self-spraying or incorrect stream direction – explains Eugeniusz Tadel.
