A brawl at the border in Medyka. Ukrainians insulted the Polish flag

Border protests arouse many emotions on both sides of the border. They are increasingly losing their nerves – both for farmers and drivers stuck in traffic jams.

An unpleasant incident occurred today at the border crossing in Medyka, which has been blocked for several days. According to farmers, two Ukrainian citizens died near the protest. One of them recorded the event with a mobile phone, while the other took action and wiped the proverbial four letters with the Polish flag.

Ukrainians insulted the Polish flag

As Roman Kondrów, one of the organizers of the protest, says in a video posted on social media, the farmers detained citizens and handed over the detainees to the police.

Why did they come? Why do they insult the Polish flag? Ukrainians here in Poland are provoking us! – says Kondrów, outraged. – We help them, and they come here, to our crossing, take our national flag and wipe their ass with it. So grateful for our help!

The farmers gave the police their phone on which the entire incident was recorded. they expect the police to impose harsh consequences.

Polish farmer intimidated by Ukrainians? The matter looks serious

What may threaten Ukrainian citizens?

The Penal Code provides for specific penalties for insulting national symbols.

Art. 137. (Public insult of a state sign or symbol)
§ 1. Whoever publicly insults, destroys, damages or removes an emblem, banner, banner, flag or other state sign shall be subject to a fine, restriction of liberty or imprisonment for up to one year.
§ 2. The same penalty shall apply to anyone who, in the territory of the Republic of Poland, insults, destroys, damages or removes the emblem, banner, ensign, flag or other sign of a foreign country, publicly displayed by a representative office of that country or by order of a Polish authority.

Penalties are one thing and Ukrainian citizens will certainly not avoid them. However, the situation will certainly have an impact on the already tense Polish-Ukrainian relations.

It is clear that the patience of both sides is being increasingly tested.
